I was born to a ballerina and a ship's captain under incredibly twinkly stars in Northumberland,

Then there were storms.

And after every storm comes calm.
In the seemingly hum-drum, everyday routine of life, magic comes; in the poem: 'Glue-man on the Wobbly Bridge. Cape finds unexpected light over the river Thames: ' What joy there is, in the wild, unexpected seconds of a midnight rendezvous on London's forbidden bridge!'

Words waterfall. From our bustling, crystal-pulse beating, mobile-phone-filled days and trains: 'We can shape-shift,' a ticket collector says in the poem Morpeth-Newcastle station. (Three quid, one way. 4.50 return).

Yes, we CAN shift: to the greatest ceremonies of time, and to those we are currently inventing.

Shift from office to copse, and the rock shelters of Northumberland moors; shift from trains and planes, to the known and unknown plains of dreams;

dreamt up in terraced living-rooms, and suburban days... of the different ways that light plays on landscapes in Holland, America, India, England;

Shift from mud to grass, and concrete to stone, from wind to rain to sun.

Gan on. Stretch! Run! Dream!

Celebrate Life!

Earth is calling
Trees are drumming
Plants are singing
Animals dancing
Wolves crying
And I'm weaving
Patterns through
The soft leaves
Lying on the emerald
ground by a stone.
Let us weave circles
Spirals with mother earth
Celebrate
The energy of life
Ride a thunderbird
Fly a butterfly
Flowers and symbols
And bang another drum.
Let?s celebrate life.

Thai Girl on a train

You have closed your eyes now
two crescent moons, your lashes close together,
the curling petals kising
the painted pollens and toils collected
unwittingly and known...
